Welcome to a selection of featured profiles on major clinical research organisations, otherwise known as clinical trial units (CTU's) from across the UK.
Clinical Research Organisations (CRO) Defined
CROs are organisations, which facilitate, co-ordinate, and performs clinical trials and medical research studies. A CRO may be built up as an in-house organisation in the drug and device industry or may exist as an organisation outside of the industry.
In the latter case, these organisations may be divided into profit organisations commonly called Contract Research Organisations (CROs) or non-profit organisations. These non-profit organisations - facilitating, co-ordinating, and performing clinical trials - are mostly called Clinical Trial Units (CTUs) in the UK, and Clinical Research Centres (CRCs) or Clinical Research Organisations in the USA.
